I recently finished Bethan’s Identity. The story kept me completely engaged from start to finish. I was surprised by the storyline but not offended. I think you’ve got something here that Christian fiction at times should reflect characters’ lives that may not play out so perfectly. We know sometimes God intervenes in this fallen world and sometimes He does not; much of which we cannot understand this side of heaven. But He never forsakes us, and He does redeem us. You are courageous in navigating these difficult storylines and still being able to do so with clean descriptions. That’s not easy to accomplish. Your story was incredibly intriguing, and I’m looking forward to Tristan’s Reckoning.
I think for Bethan Yah-Roi's intervention came when she jumped into the sea. She should have died and did not. Sometimes God's movement on our behalf looks nothing like we think it would.
Yes! Love this - “God never exposes darkness simply to expose darkness, it is there to show that His redemption is greater than the darkness. Every account of human depravity in Scripture serves a greater purpose. It reveals our need for a Redeemer. If our stories tell the truth about sin, they must also tell the truth about the One who came to conquer it. Darkness is not the destination. Redemption is.”
This is exactly what I pray my memoir will do. As I share my story at the end of each chapter I look into the darkness and search for the Light. I am on chapter 6 and God has been faithful to show me where He was when I could not see Him. It’s been a deeper healing journey.
I just pledged! I believe that your work and art form honors God and Christ’s purpose in our lives. They love us beyond the sins we commit and they are waiting for us to return to them when in sin. To evangelize to hurting people and use Jessica’s God-given gift to alert readers to come to see the great love and support we have if we seek the father. Love the sinner, hate the sin. That is our role to support the kingdom’s work. The Holy Ghost will do the rest! 💜✝️
