What a wonderful turn of events that Michael had a witness, otherwise he would've ended up in jail most likely. Still, I find Mr. Peterson's presence—and generosity—fortuitous . . . perhaps too much so. 🤔

Good catch. Peterson's decision is more intentional than it may appear at first. Your comment actually made me realize I need to strengthen that motivation in a later revision.

I was thinking in terms of Michael's situation and the consequences of the shooting, but the resolution (in the guise of Peterson) does feel somewhat easy. But Michael is going to earn it, so don't be too hard on yourself. The devil always gets his due.

Good chapter. I like the gunfight. Virgil Earp's advice was draw slow, aim fast and John Wesley Hardin quoted him.
